From the little that I know and I have practiced is that I don't usually make use of public WiFi. But accidentally, I don't have any solution at hand, I will use VPN in case they are trying to breach my data.

Using a VPN (Virtual Private Network) when connecting to public WiFi is a smart move for enhancing your online security and privacy. Public WiFi networks can be less secure, making it easier for attackers to intercept data. Here are some reasons why using a VPN is beneficial and some additional tips for staying safe on public WiFi:

    1. **Encryption**: A VPN encrypts your internet traffic, making it difficult for anyone on the same network to access your data or see what you’re doing online.

    2. **Privacy**: It masks your IP address and location, providing an additional layer of anonymity.

    3. **Secure Connection**: Even if the WiFi network is compromised, the VPN provides a secure tunnel for your data.

    4. **Protection from Man-in-the-Middle Attacks**: VPNs help protect against these attacks, where someone could intercept communication between you and the server.

Here are additional tips to stay safe on public WiFi:

- **Turn off Sharing**: Disable file and printer sharing options in your device settings.

    - **Use HTTPS**: Ensure websites you visit use HTTPS, which secures communications between your browser and the website.

    - **Keep Your Software Updated**: Regular updates can patch security vulnerabilities in your system and applications.

    - **Use Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)**: Enable 2FA on services that support it for an added layer of security.

    - **Firewall**: Make sure your device's firewall is enabled to block unauthorized access.

    - **Avoid Sensitive Transactions**: Refrain from accessing banking information or making online purchases on unsecured networks.

By taking these precautions along with using a VPN, you can significantly reduce the risks associated with using public WiFi.
