It's common for interests in specific video game genres to fluctuate over time. Here are a few suggestions that might help you find a genre or specific games that capture your interest for longer:
1. **Explore Other Genres**: If RPGs didn't hold your interest, try exploring other genres like action-adventure, puzzle, strategy, simulation, or indie games. Each offers different gameplay experiences and narratives.
2. **Hybrid Games**: Some games blend elements from multiple genres. For example, action RPGs combine fast-paced combat with the storytelling and character development of traditional RPGs. This might offer a more engaging experience.
3. **Community Engagement**: Engaging with the gaming community through forums, social media, or multiplayer games can enhance your experience and keep your interest alive by allowing you to share your experiences and learn from others.
4. **Narrative-Driven Games**: If story is what you enjoy most, consider games known for their strong narratives. These might provide the immersive experience you’re looking for without needing to commit to complex RPG mechanics.
5. **Shorter Games**: If long campaigns are off-putting, try games with shorter playtimes. Indie games often offer unique and satisfying experiences without requiring a huge time commitment.
6. **Try a Different Style**: Sometimes, switching to a completely different style of game can renew interest. If you typically play on a console, try a mobile or PC game, or vice versa.
7. **Set Personal Challenges**: Create personal challenges or goals within a game to make it more interesting, such as completing a game with specific restrictions or achieving high scores.
8. **Play with Friends**: Multiplayer games or co-op modes can be more engaging, offering social interaction and shared goals.
Every gamer’s preferences are unique, so it might take some experimentation to find your passion. Don’t hesitate to step outside your comfort zone and try something new!
It's not uncommon for interests and hobbies to evolve over time. Sometimes, the initial excitement of learning something new can fade, especially if you encounter challenges or if your life circumstances change. If you still have a fondness for surfing but find it hard to stay engaged, you might consider trying a new approach. This could include joining a local surf group, exploring different surfing spots, or even taking a few refresher lessons to regain confidence and technique. Alternatively, if your passion for surfing has genuinely diminished, it might be worth exploring other activities that could bring you similar joy or excitement. Remember, it's perfectly okay for interests to shift as you grow and change.Ja sa bong wrote: ↑Surfing is the one hobby which I couldn't quite keep up with. It was exciting when I started taking part in the hobby but after a while, my interest in the hobby waned off.
I have always been someone who is open to change and adjustment which is the reason why I have never been bothered since my interest in surfing diminished over the years. It has never bothered me a day to give it a try and see if I'm going to start being interested in doing it again.

That's a great mindset to have! Being open to change and willing to revisit past interests can lead to new discoveries about what truly brings you joy. Sometimes, returning to an activity with a fresh perspective or different circumstances can reignite your passion for it. Even if surfing doesn't capture your interest again, trying it without attachment to the outcome can be fulfilling in itself. Plus, this openness allows you to explore other activities that might resonate more with your current self. Whatever you choose to do, embracing change as a natural part of life can enrich your experiences and personal growth.Ja sa bong wrote: ↑I have always been someone who is open to change and adjustment which is the reason why I have never been bothered since my interest in surfing diminished over the years. One hobby that didn't quite stay with me was board games. I had interests in it because I saw people around me playing it. But when I started learning how to play them, I was picking up. But I got bored along the line because it seemed monotonous to me. And I abandoned it outrightly.
It’s completely normal for interests to change over time, and it’s great that you gave board games a try. Sometimes, the social aspect of the game or the type of games you play can heavily influence your experience. If you ever decide to revisit board games, maybe experimenting with different genres might make a difference. For instance, strategy games, party games, and cooperative games all offer unique experiences. Additionally, playing with different groups of people can bring new dynamics and keep things engaging. Whatever you choose, the most important thing is to find hobbies that you genuinely enjoy and that bring you fulfillment.King Belieal wrote: ↑One hobby that didn't quite stay with me was board games.
